General Accountant

HOURS: Monday - Friday

REPORTING: Accounting Department

POSITION SUMMARY: We are seeking an energetic and reliable General Accountant to perform day-to-day clerical duties, involved to accomplishing general accounting, cost accounting, accounts receivable functions, and accounts payable functions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

    Receives, date-stamps, maintains vendors’ requests for payments and maintains packing lists from vendors
    Matches vendors’ requests for payment with the corresponding packing lists and purchase order; Verifies prices, amounts received, applicable sales tax, freight amount to shipping terms; Resolves discrepancies prior to payment processing
    Enters vendors’ requests for payments into accounts payable data base and prepares batch for further review by Accounting Supervisor or designee
    Handles vendor inquiries regarding payment status. Researches vendor account for non-payment or short-payment as required
    Makes collection calls and submits a daily report on the results to the Accounting Manager or designee with the required information for forecasting cash flow

    REQUIREMENTS:

    College accounting coursework in Accounting through Basic Accounting, or equivalent education or experience
    One-year general accounting clerical experience
    Knowledge of basic accounting theory and methods
    Working knowledge of M/S Word and M/S Excel
    Ability to use computer terminal, calculator, copier and fax machine and meet deadlines
