Detroit Field Service Engineer – Electro-Mechanical

Quest International | Detroit / Field-Based

Full-Time | Temp-to-Hire

$24.00–$29.00 per hour, depending on experience


Job Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire

Travel: Up to 80%, including overnight travel

    You must be located in the Detroit, MI area or within reliable field-service coverage distance
    You must be able to travel up to 80%, including overnight travel
    You must have a valid driver’s license
    You must have a reliable personal vehicle available for work-related travel
    You must be aligned with the $24.00 – $29.00 per hour pay range
    You must have hands-on electro-mechanical troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, installation, or field service experience
    You must have experience with diagnostic tools, with digital multimeter experience strongly preferred
    You must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and complete the required Human Performance Test
    You must be authorized to work permanently in the United States without current or future sponsorship

REQUIRED AUTO INSURANCE COVERAGE

This role requires use of a personal vehicle for work-related travel. Candidates must be able and willing to obtain and maintain the required auto insurance coverage:

    $100,000 bodily injury liability per person
    $100,000 property damage liability
    $300,000 bodily injury liability per accident

WHY YOU’LL LIKE THIS ROLE

This is a hands-on field service role for someone who enjoys troubleshooting real equipment, working independently at customer sites, traveling regularly, and solving practical electro-mechanical problems. This is not an IT help desk, desktop support, networking, software-only, or customer-service-only position.


WHAT YOU’LL DO

    Travel to customer sites throughout the Detroit, MI market and surrounding service areas
    Install electro-mechanical equipment
    Perform preventative maintenance on customer equipment
    Troubleshoot equipment issues to the FRU, module, part, or component level
    Repair or replace equipment components, assemblies, wiring, connectors, harnesses, boards, sensors, power supplies, or related parts
    Use diagnostic/service tools, including digital multimeters and similar tools
    Follow service procedures, technical documentation, work instructions, and safety requirements
    Document service findings, parts used, repairs completed, and next steps
    Communicate professionally with customers and internal teams
    Support schedule changes, travel days, overtime, and customer-site expectations as needed

WHAT YOU BRING

    At least 1 year of hands-on technical, electro-mechanical, equipment repair, field service, or related service experience
    Experience servicing electro-mechanical products
    Ability to troubleshoot equipment to the FRU-level
    Familiarity with diagnostic/service tools, including digital multimeter or similar equipment
    Comfort working with wiring harnesses, connectors, sensitive electronic components, assemblies, and related equipment
    Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting ability
    Strong customer communication skills
    Ability to work independently in the field
    Valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle
    Travel readiness up to 80%, including overnight travel
    Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
    Permanent U.S. work authorization

    Optical product experience
    Hospital, lab, cleanroom, or controlled-environment service experience
    Vacuum/pressure meter experience
    Frequency counter experience
    Digital multimeter experience
    Command line or PowerShell familiarity
    OEM equipment support
    ISO, regulated, healthcare, or quality-controlled environment experience
    Military technical training
    Strong service documentation habits

COMPENSATION, OVERTIME, AND BENEFITS

    Pay Range: $24.00 – $29.00 per hour
    Overtime: Overtime eligible where applicable based on business need, travel, customer-site work, and applicable wage-and-hour requirements

Actual compensation is based on job-related factors, including skills, experience, technical background, field service experience, tool experience, travel readiness, and overall role alignment.
