Field Service Engineer I – Electro-Mechanical Equipment

San Francisco Bay Area, CA | Field-Based

Full-Time | Temp-to-Hire

$24.00–$29.00 per hour


Quest International is hiring a Field Service Engineer I to support installation, preventative maintenance, and corrective repair work on medical and industrial equipment throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. This is a hands-on electro-mechanical field service role. It is not an IT help desk, desktop support, networking, software, or general technical support position.


Please review the requirements before applying:

    Must currently live in the San Francisco Bay Area or have already completed relocation
    Must have hands-on electro-mechanical troubleshooting and repair experience
    Must be comfortable troubleshooting to the FRU level
    Must have experience using diagnostic tools such as a digital multimeter
    Must have a valid driver’s license and your own reliable vehicle available for work use
    Must be able to travel up to 80% of the time, including overnight travel when needed
    Must be comfortable with a temp-to-hire employment structure
    Must be aligned with the $24.00–$29.00 per hour pay range

Key Responsibilities:

    Perform product installation on medical and industrial equipment
    Complete preventative maintenance and corrective repair services
    Troubleshoot equipment issues to the FRU-level
    Service electro-mechanical products in the field
    Work with wiring harnesses, connectors, cabling, and sensitive electronic components
    Use service tools such as vacuum/pressure meters, frequency counters, and digital multimeters
    Document service activity clearly and professionally
    Communicate with customers and internal teams while working independently in the field

Required Qualifications:

    Minimum 1 year of relevant hands-on technical experience
    Experience servicing electro-mechanical products
    Ability to troubleshoot to the FRU or component level
    Experience with wiring, connectors, cabling, and sensitive electronic components
    Familiarity with diagnostic tools, including digital multimeters
    Ability to read or follow service documentation, work instructions, or technical manuals
    Ability to travel up to 80% of the time
    Valid driver’s license required
    Own reliable vehicle available for work use
    High school diploma required
    Must currently be based in the San Francisco Bay Area

Preferred Qualifications:

    Experience with medical, diagnostic, lab, imaging, or industrial equipment
    Experience with optical products
    Command line experience
    PowerShell experience
    Military technical background
    Experience working independently at customer sites

Employment Structure:

This position is temp-to-hire. Long-term conversion is based on performance, business need, attendance, reliability, and hiring manager/HR approval. Conversion is not guaranteed.
